University of Nairobi Launches Startup Incubation Programme
The University of Nairobi is proud to announce the launch of C4DLab Startup Incubation Programme. The C4DLabis a Research & Development Lab, based at the SchoolComputing and Informatics, University of Nairobi. The Lab takes startups which aremulti-disciplinary but have a computing element. The program will take about 6 months to 1 year depending on how fast the startup grows. The C4DLab is currently taking applications for startup incubation, across theuniversity and beyond. The admission process:
- C4DLab will accept applications between 1st February 2014 and 20thFebruary 2014. The results of selection will be announced by28th February2014.
- Shortlisted startups will then be invited to pitch their ideas in preparationfor starting the incubation.
- Viability (appropriateness, innovativeness, timeliness and marketpotential)
- Multi-disciplinary characteristics
- Relevance to computing
- Proof of concept
- Composition of team members
- Level of commitment
Incubation requirements:
- The idea must have an element of computing but can be multidisciplinary
- Student, faculty and alumni of the University of Nairobi will be givenpriority
- The idea must be innovative and technologically viable, solving a reallife problem
- The founders must consist of two or three individuals
- The startups should commit to have at least two full time individualswho will be working on the product at the C4DLab
- A startup will be admitted only if a preliminary business plan isdeveloped and presented to the Lab
