There is an inborn dream in the heart and soul of every man for greatness. We desire to achieve
above and beyond and the ordinary. We dream and long to see our stars shine. Dutifully we
embark on the journey of life with all we have and set out for the land of achievement.
Even so, the majority of men never reach their destination. Many always retire along the way. A
few make it to the top, but oftentimes fail to hold onto the crown of glory and find themselves
down at the bottom again. Then the climb to the top begins afresh. It’s frustrating.
My experience is not different. I have been to the top and down, over and over again. The top is
not for the faint hearted, the top is for the champions.
Championship
Who is a champion? A champion is a Victor in a game, challenge or a fight. We get champions
out of those who compete for mastery or a crown amidst cheers of witnesses. A champion is the
name given to the one who comes on the top file in the rank. The victory of the moment rests
upon the champion. It could be in any field of life where winners are acknowledged.
A champion’s greatest challenge is not to win. It is to defend the title or the crown won. There
are many winners in the world but very few champions. The reason is interesting. A winner does
not have to defend his title or crown. However, a champion has to secure his reign. This implies
that champion cannot let go his guard.
One victory means another greater challenge is coming. A champion cannot afford to sleep and
count his money. He must start preparing for the next bout in top earnest else he will lose his
glory and honor to the challenge. A champion must stand for what he has or he will negate his
position in life.
What everyone needs to know is that life is a game. Life is a terrifying battlefield. The war is on
everyday, every hour, every minute and every second. There are no timeouts from the maternity
to the graveyard. Once a child is born, the first cry is a battle cry for survival! Every child knows
that he must continue breathing and guard the same to continue living. Once the breathing stops
the game is over. But in between birth and death, the battle for life daily goes on relentlessly.
In my blog I intent to outline the major mistakes we must avoid in our pursuit of success.
